NOTE: If the patient has stopped breathing call 999 and commence CPR immediately whilst waiting for the Ambulance or a defibrillator to arrive on scene. Perform CPR by placing the heel of one hand over the patients sternum, interlock with the fingers of the other hand and press down 2 inches at the rate of 2 per second. If comfortable to do so, apply 2 rescue breaths after every 30 compressions by squeezing the nose, tilt the chin and breath into the mouth. When the defibrillator arrives continue CPR whilst the pads are applied and then follow the instructions given by the device.
